3 1/3 cups plain flour, divided
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 tsp. Instant Yeast
6 Tbsp. Water
2/3 cups buttermilk slightly warm
1/4 cup melted butter
1 egg (slightly beaten)
In a large bowl mix together 2 Cups flour, sugar, Salt and Yeast. Make a little well add the wet ingredients. Mix adding flour until no longer real sticky. But you want the Dough soft. Turn onto a floured work surface. Knead for about 15 times. Put into a oiled bowl cover with a kitchen towel or anything to keep air out. Place in a warm area draft free. Let rise 30 minutes to 1 hour until doubled in size. Once doubled punch down the dough. Put on slightly floured surface and cut into donuts. I used a biscuit cutter and one of my cake decorating tips. Place on a slightly greased pan cover again and let the donuts rise 30 minutes. Fry in extremely hot oil. Be very careful. I usually flip mine several times until they are golden. Put on a baking rack to drain.
Fry the holes the same way.
I made the glaze with 1 cup. Powdered sugar, and enough milk to achieve the desired consistency. Dip the donuts in the glaze. Return to rack to allow excess has drained.
