Macaroni and Tomatoes



5 c water
1/2 c onion
1 1/2 T bacon grease
Few dashes black pepper
1 1/4 tsp salt
8 oz macaroni
15 oz can diced tomatoes OR tomato sauce (I prefer using home canned tomatoes or tomato juice and this takes a pint.)


Bring water to boil. Add onion, bacon grease, salt and pasta. Stir to keep pasta from sticking. Cook on medium high until pasta is tender and most of water is absorbed. You may have to add a tiny bit to finish the pasta, but you don’t want any left over. Turn off heat and stir in tomatoes or sauce and black pepper. (Do not drain it before adding the tomatoes or tomato sauce.)
